Aid extended: More than 300.000 children being supported

(Duisburg, May 11th 2007) Kindernothilfe extended the range of its work in 2006. Today 302.859 children in 27 countries worldwide benefit from the help from Duisburg. In 2006 the registered charitable organization Kindernothilfe e.V. had an income to the amount of 52,5 million (2005: 69,4) euros. Decline is due to the exceptional willingness to donate for Tsunami-projects in 2005. Average annual income after being adjusted by those funds used for emergency aid are to the amount of about 600.000 Euro (1,2 per cent) higher than income of the previous year.

46,5 million Euro (88,5 per cent) of the total income to the amount of 52,5 million Euro are/were donations. The biggest amount of donations results from Child Sponsorship which therefore remains the most important mode of aid of Kindernothilfe. In behalf of administration Kindernothilfe spent 3,2 million Euros (5,9 per cent), in behalf of publicity and care for donators 4,5 million Euro (8,2 per cent). The total amount of 14,1 per cent was being categorized as adequate by the German Central Institute for Social Affairs (DZI) in Berlin. DZI certifies that Kindernothilfe practices appropriate fundraising and economical expenditure of the funds for which they were raised.

More than 43 million Euros spent on projects
In 2006 Kindernothilfe spent 43,1 million Euro (77,9 per cent) on projects. In doing so Kindernothilfe also extended aid for children at risk. Children at risk are child workers, street children, child soldiers and traumatized boys and girls. These projects had been supported with about 7,6 million euros (17,6 per cent).
