Combating poverty: Keeping the needs of children in mind

Combating poverty is one of the central topics in Kindernothilfe's lobby and campaign work. One of the focuses in this field are the Poverty Reduction Strategy Papers (PRSPs). Kindernothilfe carried out two surveys on these strategy papers in combating poverty in developing countries which attracted international attention. These showed clearly that child rights must play a more important role in strategy papers for the future. Kindernothilfe is a member of VENRO, the Association of German development non-governmental organisations participating in their campaigns. more

Millennium-Goals

This year again there will be a world-wide Stand Up event on the International Day of Poverty Eradication, on 17 October. The Stand Up is organised by the UN Millennium Campaign. The activity day under the motto "Stand up and Speak out" will be held across the world from 17 to 19 October. more

Child Rights in Poverty Reduction Strategy Papers - Evaluation of two PRSP-studies

20 years after the adoption of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), on the one hand, and ten years after the launch of the debt relief campaign, on the other hand, the work of Kindernothilfe within the context of Poverty Reduction Strategy Papers and the rights of the child were supposed to be examined and recorded. For that purpose Kindernothilfe's subsequent work on this topic was evaluated together with secondary material. more
