The aim of Kindernothilfe's work is to achieve a world in which children and young people can live a life of human dignity, develop their talents and together with their family and community take their development into their own hands.
Principles
The principles of participation and helping people to help themselves as well as commitment to the rights of the child are the main factors on which Kindernothilfe bases its help. Seeing children only as victims and receivers of aid is to remove all responsibility from them. Kindernothilfe considers children and young people to be the subjects of their own development and encourages them to actively participate in decision making in projects and programme work.
The rights of the child is the foundation for co-operation with local partners. Children have the right to participate in the life of society. Consequently, they are the focus of the programme work supported by Kindernothilfe. The implementation of the rights of the child plays a decisive role in the planning and assessment of programmes such as lobbying and advocacy.
