Philippines: Stand Up Against Poverty

Finally after four years of initiating the activity on Stand Up Against Poverty the "Silaw Sa Kaugmaon Center" (Project 29207) was able to persuade the Local Government of Manjuyod Negros Oriental Philippines to put up its own Stand Up activity.

Hence, together with the local artists, that includes Silaw Anklung Ensemble, and supported by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, the local government launched the MDG last October 16, 2009 at the municipal gymnasium attended by various sectors like the businessmen, employees, local politicians, students, and children. The municipal mayor led in the Stand UP pledge. This was really the high light of the Stand Up Speak Out activity. Silaw played a great part in the realization of this endeavor.
