Advocacy: Global Campaign for Education
Education for all
The Global Campaign for Education carries out events and campaigns each year to achieve "Education for All". The highlight of these events is the global week of action which takes place at the end of April every year. Kindernothilfe is a member of this alliance.

Not only the numbers of children who attend school, but also what and how much they learn there is crucial in combating poverty successfully. That is why Kindernothilfe together with the other members of the German Campaign for Education have developed teaching material on the topic "Teachers for All!" and have invited schools to take part in the week of action. The campaigns in previous years were extremely successful:
- In 2003 more than two million people took part in the "world-largest lesson".
- In 2004 more than 2.5 million participants in the "largest lobby action" reminded politicians of their promise to do more for education.
- In 2005 five million people took part in the campaign "send my friend to school" by sending paper figures to politicians.

- cancel debts and to increase development aid to enable poor countries to invest more in education;
- to support educational reforms in developing countries, e.g. employ more teachers, improve teachers' training and better pay for teachers;
- to change the criteria for the allocation of development funds so that more can be spent on teachers' salaries.
