In 2009 Kindernothilfe, through its partners, supported 588,700 children and young people in 985 projects in 28 countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe. It increased its focus on providing help for “children at risk”. It also restructured its donor service to make it more efficient and effective.

For Kindernothilfe the reconstruction of rural schools in the mountainous areas south west of the Haitian capital, destroyed by the earthquake of January 12th, is one of the hardest logistic challenges within the humanitarian aid campaign of KNH in this Caribbean country.

20 years after the adoption of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), on the one hand, and ten years after the launch of the debt relief campaign, on the other hand, the work of Kindernothilfe within the context of Poverty Reduction Strategy Papers and the rights of the child were supposed to be examined and recorded.
